Why Southern Platinum
We started this company because we were tired of seeing homeowners and business owners get subpar floors from contractors who cut corners.
The coating is only as good as the prep. We grind, profile, and prep every floor to manufacturer spec before a drop of material touches the surface.
We use professional-grade, 100% solids epoxy systems — not the thin hardware store coatings that peel and chip within a year.
No surprise charges. You get a written, line-item quote before any work begins so you know exactly what you're getting.
Humidity, heat, and concrete moisture are serious factors in epoxy adhesion. We've mastered installation in Southern conditions.
How It Works
A great floor starts with a great process. Here's what to expect when you work with Southern Platinum Coatings.
We visit your property, assess the concrete condition, and provide a no-obligation written quote.
Diamond grinding opens the concrete pores for maximum adhesion. Cracks and imperfections are repaired.
Base coat, decorative layer, and protective topcoat applied in sequence with proper cure time between each.
We inspect every inch with you and don't leave until you're completely satisfied with the result.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know before booking — straight answers, no fluff.
Most residential garage floors take 1–2 days — one day for prep and base coat, one day for topcoat. Larger commercial jobs may take 3–5 days. We'll give you a precise timeline in your free estimate so you can plan accordingly.
Light foot traffic is typically safe after 24 hours. We recommend waiting 72 hours before driving a vehicle onto the floor. Full cure — where the coating reaches maximum hardness — takes about 7 days, but you can use the space normally well before then.
Yes — the floor needs to be completely clear. All vehicles, shelving, boxes, and items need to be removed before we arrive. We grind the entire surface, so there can't be anything sitting on it. We'll remind you of this when we schedule your job so you're not caught off guard.
Flake (chip) systems broadcast decorative vinyl flakes into a base coat, creating a speckled, textured look — great for hiding imperfections and providing grip. They're the most popular choice for garages. Metallic epoxy uses pigment powders swirled into the coating to create a flowing, three-dimensional effect — more of a showpiece look, like polished marble or liquid metal. Both are equally durable; it comes down to personal style.
In most cases, yes. Epoxy bonds to concrete very well when the surface is properly prepared. We can work with cracked, stained, or older concrete — cracks and divots are repaired during our prep phase. The main exception is concrete with a moisture problem or existing coating that can't be fully removed. We test for this during your free estimate so there are no surprises.
Epoxy is one of the easiest floors to maintain. Sweep or dust mop regularly, and mop with a mild soap and water solution as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach or citrus-based cleaners. For garage floors, clean up oil or chemical spills promptly — though our coating is resistant, sitting spills are always better cleaned up sooner rather than later.
Pricing depends on square footage, floor condition, and the system you choose. As a general range, residential flake systems typically run $3–$7 per square foot, while metallic systems are higher due to material and labor. We provide free, detailed written estimates — no pressure, no obligation. Contact us and we'll give you exact numbers for your specific space.
